Organic Crack!

This happened two nights ago, and it wasn't even windy. The kids were even playing outside, but thankfully no one was hurt and no property was damaged.

There was a strange crack crack crack sound and then the dog went nuts. It looks like this half of the tree was just too heavy and it peeled right off.

Saturday, Mr. O and Spielberg chainsawed it into manageable pieces and hauled it to the driveway where it will wait until after the holiday for removal. Come to think of it, does anyone want some free firewood? It's yours for the hauling.

Tonight there are 60 mph micro-burst winds. You can bet I'm keeping my eye on the rest of the tree.

There are still a few hours to get your bid in (I've even sweetened the pot).

Thanks Heff - there's a story behind that quilt. It's like the bluebird of happiness lives on it. It is not at all in the usual fabric colors/styles I would normally use,

b.- if I do, will you bid on it? the wood is so green it won't be cured till next winter. kudos on the new look, lurve it.

Oh WOW! I can't belive that, crazy!! I loved that tree it made your yard so shady. Thank goodness it didn't land on anybody.
So I made your chocolate cake and it is so yummy! I took it to a Burr family party and everyone LOVED it! I didn't get the cream so I just used milk and it still worked I just had to add a ton of powdered sugar. Thanks for the link I will be reading that later, I think that book will do really well, everybody likes Edward better than Bella!

Summer - good thing the dog let us know about it, it was dark so we might not have noticed until the next day.

Rachel - so glad it worked. I've made it three times and every time it disappears in a couple days. I think it's my favorite way to get my veggies in.

Also, her book was apparently leaked online and now she's put it on hold (so it might not get finished)

Check Stephenie Meyer's website and you will find that she has posted the rough draft of Midnight Sun - which is Edward's version of Twilight.

So sad about your beautiful tree!

So awesome of you to auction that amazing quilt for Nie Nie. What a small blogging world this is. Steve works with Nie Nie's brother-in-law, who is married to Nie Nie's sister. They have taken in 3 of their 4 kids. They are pretty amazing people.
