Less than stellar

Sometimes, we (it's not just me, right?) have these moments of sheer exasperation even though we love being a mom. A few days back, I'd hit my max. One of the kids told the other to, "Shut the freak up."

I came unglued. I stormed into the room with my loud mom feet and yelled, "We do not speak like that to each other!" And as I said SPeak, a big ol' glob of spit flew out of my mouth and dribbled down my chin. Both of us just stood there feeling the tension, and all I could add was, "Or I will ...spit all over you," as I pointed to my face.

Then we both busted a gut.

Maybe laughter really is the best medicine!

A tender mercy in the form of spittle? (Great story!)

Ok...this made me really laugh out loud!
I hate/love when you're in the mean mom groove and spit (or something else) happens!

You're a riot!

This good me a good laugh because it reminded me of an incident with my mom when I was young. She had been nagging my older brother all day to do his chores and he had been saying, "I'm gunna!" for hours. She finally blew up when he made a sassy remark and she went at him with her...refill mug of diet coke. She went to dump it on him but the lid was on and the hole at the top was small so it just sprinkled him a little with each jerk of the cup. He had a confused expression as he blinked repeatedly as drops of Diet Coke sprinkled on him. We all finally realized how funny it was and started laughing (including my mom) as she ripped the lid off and threw what was left of the ice on him.

I think it is a good lesson for kids to see their parents find the humor in situations like this.

So awesome. Good recovery, Mom. :) They'll remember that one!

I'm worried about my kids using the word "freak" inserted into everything they say. I guess it's better than the alternative, but...

If only I could spit every time I lose my cool.

Kim -I love that story.

CIF - It bugs me too.

I've done the same thing, only without the witty comeback!
It was just embarrassing.

But you did eventually make it clear that it wasn't okay, right? After you all cleaned up from wetting your pants laughing?

Oh yes, it seems with this particualr child I do a lot of "making it clear." Sigh.

I have done things like that when I wanted to be so poised or perfect in my mothering wisdom...

Good recovery, my dear!

I was laughing my head off! Glad you were able to laugh about it too... it's getting wierd now that half of my kids are taller than me when I go face-to-face with them.

HILARIOUS! :D

It's great how a good laugh totally pushes away the tension!
