Mom was good this year

Mr. O saw fit to upgrade our photo equipment as part of Christmas. I'm usually a manual reader, but I was too excited to start snapping away. Here is a sampling of what we've figured out so far (obviously, I'll resume manual reading)

Just what color are her eyes?

So what kind of camera did you get? Enquiring minds (mine anyway) want to know.

A Canon EOS Rebel (a big step up for us)

Dark Chocolate (my vote on her eye color)

Athena - I really need lessons. Have you considered doing any sort of tutorials?

Hey I also just got super nice camera and am going to have to take a class on how to really work it. I think it would be a neat thing to learn more about. Jessie looks so pretty in that pic.

looking at these images i think you're doing very well. i took a lighting course a couple months ago with a well known photographer and that was good though i think the area i need lessons in is on the business side of photography. i would say the best way to learn is by using your camera every day and experimenting with the manual mode in different lighting situations. i love the image of your daughter at the top with the light as a hair light. i love the pic of the tassel against the wood too. what kind of lens do you have?

athena - the sun was setting behind her, I just had to snap it. The lens is an 18-55mm macro lens. I can't wait for some real sunlight to shoot with.

Do you have any favorite mini tripods?

You are making me want a nice camera. (Although then I would have to learn how to use it.)

I thought your last post was cryptic, too, but I liked it. Happy New Year!

I think I'd like to try the Joby Gorillapod - we have a Sunpak Platinum Plus and it's a bit heavy for me.
