Bits, Bobs

We've started family read-alouds again. Mr. O read the previous two books: Johnny Tremain and (I don't remember). Now it's my turn again, and I've realized how selfish I am. I like to do the reading, and I don't want to share. I'd like to think it's because it's something my mom did for us and I'm just keeping the tradition, and not that I'm horrible at listening. Since the kids are getting older, we're reading something a little more discussion oriented.

After a short family study time, we say goodnight to Ellie (who sometimes falls asleep before we make it this far), tuck her in, and the older kids grab something quiet to do while I read to them.

We're reading Fahrenheit 451, and I'm doing a little editing on-the-fly, ahem. It's interesting to hear their questions as the story unfolds.

Our next read aloud is Just David - vastly different books, I know.

Tonight we are pushing out the furniture, filling up the air mattresses, and breaking out the popcorn, pizza and root beer for movie night. Sometimes we have fun in this family.

What are you doing to connect with family this weekend?

P.P.S. Easy, peasy valentines (and so cute!)
