How we really spent Black Friday

No snowflakes were created today. We meant to get to that, but first there were whips to be cracked. The garden absolutely needed to be put to rights for the winter and water shoots pruned from the fruit trees.

Leaves had fairly consumed the side yard and dead morning glory vines had swamped the Burning Bushes. We stuffed 8 contractor-grade yard bags with leaves, twigs and rotten tomatoes. The children helped willingly (except for the four year old who was busy being a cheetah and chasing monsters) and even cooperated. I know! Can I just tell you how much I love Christmas and the sudden helpfulness and good cheer it brings on?

Sadly we are only half-way through the yard. I will do the rest myself and I will relish the work.

When we set out, I meant to create a maintenance-free yard. Hah! I guess my subconscious took over and ensured I'd get plenty of earth/thinking time. There is always something to prune, weed or tidy up. I do like it that way.

How was your weekend?

Also, today Ellie proclaimed that she loves Cheese-us because he brings us down bean burritos. Who knew?
