Thankful for aprons

First, a picture of CW's famous Sour Cream Lemon Pie - she made mine with a half ginger snap/half graham cracker crust. And it was divine! I did not want to share, but I did. You must make this. In fact, I think I will. Right now. But first, some cute reversible aprons, courtesy of my momma.

Every other year, all the gals on my side get together and make pies in our cute new handmade aprons. We use a traditional, from scratch, recipe. It's a no-fail pie crust with a wonderful, flaky texture. Every gal made a pie and in my family that computes out to a whole lotta pies. There were a few pumpkin, a couple berry, a couple apple, a banana cream, and some I can't even remember. The whole point of the activity is not the pies (although they are a nice side benefit), it's the relationships and the traditions - the old and the young making connections. It's grown to be my favorite part of the holiday. This one reverses to a large floral print, very vintage shabby.

I just love this funky fabric

Here's another one. Goodness! Would you believe that there are 3 more styles I didn't even snap? All of them equally awesome.

My mum's family room. I just love her fireplace mantle. As I speak, she's most likely decking the halls/trees and stringing up Christmas lights. Her place is always festive. Really, there's no place like home for the holidays.
